With the summer party (and wedding season) upon us I made it my mission to find out how to create a makeup that lasts all night long. Using the right products is obviously the first step to achieve a long-lasting makeup, and since I’ve been a huge fan of Tromborg for years, it came as a natural choice to team up with the Danish beauty brand on how to create a super natural looking makeup that will make your skin glow for hours.
I love adding new nail polishes to my collection, and these two are the latest to move in with me. Together they become a really strong duo – Rose Caché for the toes and Tenderly for the fingers. I always do my nails myself, and while I don’t mind painting my fingernails myself I certainly wouldn’t mind someone to take care of the toes. Maybe I should start taking advantage of living only a 5 minute walk from one of the best nail bars in London. There’s even Mummy & Baby mornings there. No more excuses.
When I was in high school I couldn’t enough of lipgloss, and I was not alone. My favourite was always the sheer one, and if you lost your lipgloss (which for some reason happened all the time) you could always count on your girlfriends to have one to share. Back in the days (we’re talking around 2001) lipgloss was a sticky affair, and I think that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t had a lipgloss in my makeup bag for the past 10 years. And then this happened. Chanel launched Rouge Allure Gloss, which combines the lipgloss with the lipstick. It adds a bold colour and lacquered finish to your lips, and I love the click case, which is both elegant and hygienic. Bring it on, ladies!
No makeup bag is complete without a great foundation, but finding the right one is not that simple. We all want that healthy-looking, glowing and dewy complexion, and no matter how great your skin looks au naturel a few droplets of foundation is never a bad idea. Forget about those heavy and mask-like foundations – the best foundations complement your skin, and make it look its best without you even feeling you are wearing foundation. And obviously without people noticing it. #iwokeuplikethis, remember. Admitted. I love foundation and use it almost every day, so when Maybelline asked me to test and review the new Dream Flawless Nude Foundation I was in. The first thing I noticed was the light texture that really made it easy to blend into my skin no matter if I was using a brush or my fingers. Because of the light texture there’s no risk of streaks when applying it with a brush and I always find the result to be a bit more even. Use the dropper to drip a few droplets onto your wrist, and then apply it by starting around the nose and mouth, moving to the cheeks, chin and forehead as needed. The coverage is light but flawless, and the result is natural and long-lasting. Dream Flawless Nude Foundation by Maybelline. Available in 7 shades. Price £8.99.
At the moment I prefer my nails to be painted in neutral shades, and this Bobbi Brown polish named Rozy is a favorite. It’s somewhere between pink, grey and nude, and besides being the perfect colour it also lasts longer than most of my other nail polishes. After 3 days the polish still looks like I just applied it, and I didn’t even add a base or top coat.
A look into my beautybox will reveal that I’m quite the Tromborg fan. The skincare is amazing, and I’ve got so many favorites that I don’t even know where to start. Same goes for the makeup that truly makes your skin look its best in no time so it’s no surprise that I love the new Baked Mineral products – a silky eye shadow + a multi-product that works as both a highlighter and a blush. Get them here.
These three little wonders keep my skin hydrated and healthy during the cold winter months. It’s not the first time I’m praising Rudolph but there’s a very good reason to it; the Danish skincare brand is simply one of the best you can use for your skin. No nasties, pure luxury. At daytime I mix the Facial Cream with a few drops of Facial Oil for extra hydration and protection, and at nighttime I use it with the Anti-ageing Serum that works as a 40-day vitamin booster. The Facial Oil has been a favourite of mine for years – especially during wintertime where my skin needs something extra to glow. It was only a matter of time until & Other Stories decided to add fragrances to their growing beauty range. The four fragrances have been made in collaboration with perfumer Jérôme Epinette who’s also the nose behind some of BYREDO’s most iconic fragrances, and trust me, they don’t disappoint. I especially love Morrocan Tea with its notes of lemon, spearmint, cardamom, sandalwood, musk and cedarwood, and did I mention that the fragrances are not only good smelling but also very good-looking. See for yourself at Stories.com.
I recently started using the Mineral Pressed Powder from Tromborg, and it didn’t take long for it to become a go-to favourite in my beauty bag. I mainly use it around the nose and at the nosetip, between my brows and on my chin to even out the skin tone and to avoid getting shiny. Apply it with a larger brush for a natural and soft result. I use the Eye Shader Brush by Bobbi Brown but I’m actually not sure if it’s available anymore as i could only find it on Ebay. However, I’m certain that both Bobbi Brown and MAC have perfectly good alternatives. Like this one, or this one. Mineral Pressed Powder//TROMBORG, Eye Shader//BOBBI BROWN
After all the recent hype I decided to give the sponges from The Konjac Sponge Co. a try – and it didn’t take me long to get addicted to the calming, softening and mild exfoliation effect the sponges offer the skin. For both face and body I went for the French Pink Clay sponges, which are perfect to refresh a sensitive skin as the clay repairs and improves circulation. You won’t see the changes to your skin overnight, but give it a few weeks and those annoying clogged pores will definitely improve making your skin appear more even and fresh faced. It’s actually not necessary to use any cleansing products with the sponges but I prefer to – and after all adding some will only make the sponges work deeper. I was recently introduced to Mádara and have been using the Purifying Foam am and pm for the past few weeks now and I love it for being mild, effective, and organic. I massage it into damp skin before I bring the sponge into action and lastly rinse with warm water.
